Keir was born the youngest child of the Giese clan's patron goddess and their head of clan. His parents relationship fizzled out shortly after Keir's birth. It was right around this time that his father met and feel in love with a human girl that he would eventually take as his first wife. A choice that resulted in a divorce from his currant first wife, Keir's and his brother Kieran's mother. Many within the clan were upset about these turns of event, but Keir's father was never the sorta man that cared much about the opinions of others.
Four years after his birth, Keir gained two more siblings. The first, a brother born to his father and his step mother. It was clear the moment that Colden came into the world how much his mother loved him, but she did not only have motherly instinct for natural born son. She also viewed Keir and Kieran as her sons, and treated them as such. Eventually, those who were not pleased with his father's decision to marry a human girl decided to curse her with the wasting sickness and she would die four years after she gave birth to Colden.
The second sibling is a sister, who is actually older than Colden, born to a lover of Keir's father. However, Keir, his siblings and his father wouldn't find out about her existence until she is eight years old. Her mother forced her to endure horrific experiments that left her in a very delicate condition. It was due to these experiments that his father decided not to claim Keir sister. However, his father made sure that his children knew about each other, but he also made it clear that they could not tell anyone that they were related. It was a rule they all obeyed--even if they didn't understand it.
Shortly after Kieran passed the test that all witches are required to take, their father conduct the wasting sickness. Rumors begun to spread about who was responsible for cursing their father. Some claimed it was Kieran, himself. Others claim that it was Keir and Kieran's mother. However, the truth was it was the same people who cursed Keir's step mother. His brother slowly took more responsibility over the clan until he was pretty much head of the clan. His brother pushed Keir and siblings to pass the same test that he had, and they eventually did. They passed it in the same amazing manner that Kieran did.
Over the years, Keir's resemblance to his father became clear. He had his father's looks. In fact, he looks exactly like his father. Another thing he had in common with his father is his specialty. Unlike, his physical appearance his specialty had some difference. While his father's death magic--necromancy--dealt more with the physical form of the dead. Keir's deals more with ghosts and spirits.

Keir became known as quite the playboy. He had no interest in committing to a long-term relationship. That is until he met Aradia. She was just another conquests. A girl that he planned on fucking and leaving, but one thing lead to another and he ended up falling in love with her. So, when she failed her leadership test---a test that all witches are required to take in order to hold a position of power--he didn't think twice about marring her and becoming head of her clan in order to keep them from dissolving into nothing or being absorbed by another clan. Granted, he would have married her even if she had passed the test.
His step mother, who he had thought was dead, came back. She had actually been taken in by Sindri--a god of the witches. He had reverted her to a baby into a baby. She returned to kill and curse Keir's father, but his father would not stay trapped where she put him, at least not completely. He came back and eventually became king of the witches. Before, his father's ascension to the throne Keir's brothers ascended into godhood.
Keir also found out that a demon by the name of Dasan Black made himself look like his father multiple times impregnating both his mother with Kieran and him, and his step mother with Colden. Due to how the Dasan's shape shifting abilities work both the demon and the man whom Keir had called father over the years are biologically his father.
